  21. Shared the video on Facebook…and I pre-ordered the book on Amazon months ago. I’m not usually a fan of Zen books: why read a menu when you can eat a meal? But given how much I loved Momma Zen even though I’m not a mother, I know I’ll love this book since I do lots of laundry, dishes, and other ordinary chores.

  49. Karen, just posted this on my Fb page ;-) and can hardly wait to get my hands on the book. I am in an unprecedented place of needing to find peace, and to re-fall in love with this life while I still feel that that is even possible. –By the way, your grandmother *was* beautiful, and I can see the resemblance in you! Thank you so much for all you give and do.

    Comment by Helen Shafran — March 23, 2010 @ 3:08 am

  50. As someone who spends my days interviewing people’s grandmother’s, recording their stories and memories, the excerpt that you read was very special and sweet. As someone whose 91 year old father has taught me so much about living in the moment and seeing and hearing the beauty in life, but who is starting to lose his own memories, your book sounds priceless and healing. thanks!

  61. I shared it on FB–our mutual friend, Q, gave me Momma Zen last year and I’ve been looking forward to this one so much. Here’s the post: A wonderful friend of mine gave me Karen Maezen Miller’s book, Momma Zen. This is her new book. The promo video opens, “A book can’t change your life … except when it does.” I haven’t read this new book yet, but Momma Zen and other books and people with similar philosophies have helped to give me perspective on this life that my family and I are making day by day. It’s worth a try.” I know the mama community here in Austin, TX will love it.

  75. Karen – Hello!
Again, you bring me close to tears. I can almost taste the life you speak of, and yet it feels like something of a fairytale … a happy ending that may or may not exist in this “real” world.
Shared the link on facebook & will look for other opportunities as well. Really enjoyed “Momma Zen” and am sure that “Hand Wash Cold” will deliver the same gentle guidance and sense of hope and clarity that makes me feel like, “Oh, everything will be all right, then.”
    Peace.

  80. That was just what I needed to see/hear today. I have posted your video up on my blog because I think that it’s the perfect antidote to my rather panicked entry of earlier! It helps to be reminded that a change of perspective can change a life. I am in the last few weeks of my second pregnancy and struggling with my 3 yr old. I just needed to be reminded that I want my dedication to be to this life, the one I am living right now, with all it’s tantrums and demands (mine and everyone elses), not to one that I will, in all likelihood, never get to. Namaste

You are an amazing woman, Karen. Thank you again and again and again. Much love and continued success. (oh and I shared your link via email with some of my favorite people.
